WHY is hE EVEn famous still??

One of the worst actors of all time, and a total creep, just like Matt Damon. They are way past their sell by date and yet we are still hearing about them.

Unlike Damon, who had The Bourne series as his hit base, Clooney has been in all sorts of movies that nobody went to see:

The American
The Good German
Solaris
Leatherheads
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The Ides of March
Tomorrowland
Hail Caesar
Money Monster

And Clooney was REMOVED from The Man From UNCLE once it was clear he wasn't a "franchise star." (Yeah, Oceans 11, but Damon, Pitt, Roberts and Pacino helped with that series.)

But evidently he works cheap in moderate-priced movies that play on cable OK. And some of them are artful and well-reviewed.

Still, Clooney is famous in another realm entirely --- he's "famous for being famous" (Like Zsa Zsa Gabor used to be.) Gossip columns and PR sites endlessly covered his romances(like with that pretty lady wrestler a few years back) and now cover his marriage(to the high falutin' international attorney; which is a real 180 from a pretty lady wrestler) and his fatherhood(twins). That kind of coverage makes Clooney worth keeping around. Gwyneth Paltrow -- who nobody wants to see in movies, either -- has that kind of coverage and fame too. I think in Paltrow's case, she has figured out that she is actively DISliked...and rather enjoys the notoriety.

I don't know, I never see anyone mentioning George Clooney in real life. That's the difference between now and then, back then people cared about Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana, now nobody cares about Clooney or Kim Whoredashian, like at all, so why are they being rammed down our throats? This is a world of fake news.

No idea.

Well, in recent months, Clooney did two things:

Announced he is retiring from acting "unless a really exciting role turns up." I think this is a dodge to avoid the fact that he's been box office poison for many years -- and Tomorrowland was an expensive flop --and nobody wants to hire him anymore. (Interesting that for now he's avoiding going to cable TV movies or Netflix.)

Announced he made something like $300 million from the sale of his tequila company. Its a clever way to bow out -- "I can afford to retire, I'm half a billionaire."

What remains really interesting is how Clooney was able to be in so many movies that failed at the box office, yet somehow remained bankable. (He took Damon, Bill Murray and others down with him in The Monuments Men, and Julia Roberts in Money Monster -- he hurts OTHER STARS' careers.)

Anyway, its all over now. Though I expect he'll get a comeback role someday.

he married Amal

How is she even famous without him, much less the OP's point of 'How is he still famous?' - it's all so vexing a riddle.
