Is The Love of Movies Dying?

First off, sites like these wouldn't make an accurate representation, because we're huge movie fans who found refuge after the collapse of IMDB's message boards (and some before that like myself).

Almost half of Americans went to the movies in 1946. The last time a friend told me they saw a good movie in the theater was "American Beauty". And I stupidly turned down the invitation! Besides the internet, when I talk to friends/family, I'll ask, "Have you seen any good movies lately?" and the answer is almost always no.. A good portion say they can't focus anymore, which might be why movies are becoming dumber. On one site, I look at all the movies that are rated well, and most of them are very old movies.

No, just the method in which they are viewed.

The internet has made a lot of things easier, for instance, purchasing stuff online and internet banking. I can't live without those. However, the internet has been a disaster for films.

Everything is available online to watch, without leaving your home, and even movies about to be released, there's so many sneak peeks, even spoilers, leaks...

The internet is great, but it's impact on the movie industry has changed it for the worse.

Dying? The Love of Movies has been MURDERED!!

Well see. I watch a movie in theaters every week. At the end of the year, O will average my ratings of all 52 movies.

If it's less than 2.5 out of 5, I'm done with all TV shows and movies for good.

Movie Club may change my mind and keep me watching older stuff, but we'll see. It's a decision I've been avoiding for a few years now.
