What would you think if you heard of a person being killed (doa) driving a smart car who collided with a pedestrian, but the pedestrian suffered numerous injuries, but none life threatening?

I'd want to know the full story.

Smart Car has a 4-star crash safety rating from EURO NCAP, so if all they hit is a pedestrian then how did the driver die?

The pedestrian was big, like well over 300 lbs. From what tid bits of info I heard, there was lots of damage to the car, like the pedestrians body went through the windshield.
