Are Canadians Lazy?

I found this article that has a map of the USA, with the names of the states changed to names of foreign nations with equivalent GDP. (2019 data.)

https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/putting-americas-huge-21-5t-economy-into-perspective-by-comparing-us-state-gdps-to-entire-countries/

This article also presents this analysis:

"America’s third-largest state economy – New York with a GDP in 2019 of $1.73 trillion – produced slightly more economic output last year than the entire country of neighboring Canada ($1.70 trillion). As a separate country, New York would have ranked as the world’s 10th largest economy last year, ahead of No. 11 Canada ($1.70 trillion), No. 12 Russia ($1.64 trillion) and No. 13 Korea ($1.63 trillion). And it required a labor force in Canada of 20.4 million workers, or more than twice the size of New York’s (9.5 million) labor force to produce roughly the same amount of economic output last year! More evidence of the world-class productivity of American workers."

I'm going to say that Canadians aren't necessarily lazy. They're probably actually making stuff and fixing stuff and shipping stuff, whereas New York has a shit ton of overpriced paper shufflers.

Other interesting points from this article:

Which state would you rank last?

West Virginia (Oman)
New Hampshire (Dominican Republic)
Mississippi (Angola)

reply

Well listening to some Americanos talk, is enough to make some believe that the 49th parallel is the north pole.

reply

Well California does have a larger population than Canada does, we are far more spread out, and resources can be tough to get here for some things.

I wish we had more manufacturing here, but it makes things more expensive. I don't really think we are lazier than any other first world nation.

I AGREE...EXCEPT...YOU HAVE THE samoanjoke....THAT DUDE DRAGS YOUR NATIONAL AVERAGE DOWN...A LOT.

reply

Look at all of that snow they haven’t shoveled yet!

Those Canadian sorts are obviously very lazy, sheesh.

Go shovel the walk you hoser, eh!

reply

Go walk your shovel, you yank.

reply

I’m just glad you didn’t tell me to yank my shovel, I wouldn’t even know what that means. It’s probably some weird Canadian term for ice fishing, WTH do I know?!

reply

Ice fishing in Canada is called Icy Fishy Hooky.

reply

I thought that was only when you take off work to do it?

Or it's some weird Ontario thing.

reply

No, we call that Me No Worky.

reply

Weird Ontario thing I guess.

reply

It's G8.

reply

Shovel snow for three hours and get back to me.

reply

I don't think I spent 3 hours shovelling all winter. Very little snow on the prairies this year.

reply

C'mon man, do your part.

We're supposed to let American's think we're surrounded by wild moose, snow and mosquitos so they don't get any invasion plans.

reply

They just think that I live in a barren wasteland that didn't get any snow. Had to attach my sled dogs to a wagon his winter. No igloos to be seen.
