CLOSED ** BAKER'S DOZEN ** "Christmas songs" that do not mention Christmas

You hear these "holiday" tunes played on the radio this time of year but they do not mention Christmas. "Christmas" can be implied but not mentioned by name. Or the song can have nothing at all to do with the holiday.

(This is a holiday Baker's Dozen, independent of the others. The user who posts the final entry can start another one if they wish, but this is not mandatory.)

1. "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music - It mentions packages tied up with strings, sleigh bells, snowflakes and winter... but not Christmas.

Yes. It's about a sleigh ride through the snow, possibly on Thanksgiving Day, as there are claims that James Lord Pierpont composed it for a Sunday school choir for that holiday. Or it could have been merely a drinking song, as others believe.

This is a prime example. It only receives airplay because it has become associated with A Charlie Brown Christmas. The composition was used in other Peanuts specials; it wasn't intended to be specific to the Christmas program.

Another song that could take place anytime during the winter.

Good choices. Here are some others not mentioned:

"Sleigh Ride" - This one is debatable because the line "There’s a birthday party
at the home of Farmer Gray..."
is sometimes altered to say "Christmas party."

"(There's No Place Like) Home for the Holidays" - It mentions traveling and pumpkin pie, which could apply to Thanksgiving Day, too.

"Winter Wonderland" - This could describe any day during the winter.

Weird. I like the topic of seasonal songs that have nothing to do with Xmas, however I've never thought of "My Favorite Things" as being an Xmas song. The musical The Sound of Music doesn't have anything to do with Xmas either. That's quite a stretch.

"My Favorite Things" is not a Christmas song, yet it gets airplay during this time of year. The song is about conjuring up pleasant memories while in the midst of a painful or sad situation, as a means of coping.

It mentions packages, sleigh bells, snowflakes and winter but that does not qualify it as a Christmas tune. According to Wikipedia, Julie Andrews sang it in 1961 on a Christmas TV special. That is what started its association with the holiday.
