Could you consider living in a different climate zone?

reply

I like living Kansas as we get to experience all four seasons. I wouldn't want to live in the South where it's warm most of the year and I'd neither want to be in the cold majority of the year either.

reply

Pretty mild winters? About 20 °F on average.

reply

I like cool/cold climate. Love winter but not throughout the year. Not a big fan of warm weather.

40 °F to maybe around 60 °F max.

reply

Current min/max in your zone?

reply

it's been around 15/25 this week. a bit on the 'warm side'.

reply

Despite the cold weather here in the UP of Michigan, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

reply

What do you like most about UP?

reply

It's very peaceful and the seasons are beautiful, despite the long winters.

reply

No. I would hate living in the South or desert Southwest. I don't know how people can stand all of that heat.

reply

Never. I am fortunate to live in an area that has four distinct seasons, and has snow at Christmastime, although recently this is becoming endangered due to global warming. The warmer climate from the southern latitudes seems to be slowly creeping northward. If this continues I will seriously consider moving.

reply

What is the coldest temperature you get, as of now?

reply

Average low for December is -10°C/15°F. There have been recent years where we get still snow in early December but then there is a warm-up to above freezing the week before Christmas. Enough to melt the snow and ruin the holiday atmosphere.

reply

Only somewhere cooler. Can't stand heat, even mild summers

reply

Yes, I live in a semi-arid climate zone, and am already considering retiring to the desert or the wet forests of the PNW.

But not any place with serious snow. I'm too old to take up driving on snow and ice.

reply

Yes, I love the American Southeast.
There is little to no snow, plenty of sun and warmth, amazing natural beauty, very friendly people, lots of historical sites, reasonable gun laws and lower taxes.

A LOT of New Yorkers retire to the South and take their pensions and savings with them which should tell New York something.
