Opinion.....True Detective Season 1 and The Haunting of Hill House are....

I liked S2 and S3 of TRUE DETECTIVE better than S1 due to the way we only see the killer for about a second or two, whereas in SHARP OBJECTS we had the KILLER right in front of us the entire time.

And I also think SIX FEET UNDER was a much better SERIES than S1 TRUE DETECTIVE, because TD also used lots of CHEAP TRICKS and gimmicks that lead no where (like having the daughters playing with dolls that were set up exactly the same way as we see the other men in the video who raped and abused a young girl).

In other words, FALSE LEADS that have no other connection at all to the rest of the story is also why one comes away UNIMPRESSED with the CRUMMY and INCOMPETENT CONCLUSION of it.

I agree about True Detective S1, though it deserved a much better ending. Haunting of Hill House, I heard very good things about it, but I couldn't make beyond the first episode, it felt boring.

Stranger Things S1 was lovely. You can skip the rest of the series, though.

Downton Abbey, it's hard to pick a single season, all of them are top notch.

Broen S1 is extremely good (the original Swedish/Dannish one). Not as good as True Detective S1, but not far from it.

Another good one: Les Revenants S1, the original French one. The tone is strangely similar to True Detective S1, with that feeling of subtle and pessimistic horror slowly built on despair.
