I use cream cheese instead of butter when making kraft dinner. So much better

reply

Kraft dinner = mac n cheese?

reply

Yes

reply

Yup that totally works. Its like a poor mans bechamel.

reply

There is no substitute for the real things. Butter, sugar, eggs, milk etc etc. This is not a reflection on anyone else's choices.

reply

You put sugar in Mac and cheese ?

reply

No. And I don't put eggs in it either... 😕

reply

You do but it’s ok

reply

You're right. Of course you're right. You're always right, CapnBinky.

reply

Binky was the clown from Garfield

reply

You're quick.

reply

Like grease lightning

reply

I think you mean salt not sugar. Or whatever taste good to you works too.

reply

He makes it in the loo

reply

You're all missing the point. Never mind.

reply

I just reread what you posted. I get it now. Yes butter, sugar, eggs, or milk... no substitute or artificial ingredient can replace its counterpart.

reply

Yes! Exactly.

Heres a good food hack for you lazy soup lovers. If you like chicken dumpling soup but dont have the time or ingredients for the dumplings, theres a very cheap a fast way to have your soup. use flour tortillas, i like to use jalapeño flour tortillas. The thicker the tortilla the better. Cut them up in squares and throw them in at the end. You'll know its done when the tortillas puff up and get all soft like a dumpling.

reply

Great idea

reply

Nice. I've used quartered refrigerated biscuits too.

reply

Ramen noodles and vegetable medley makes a fine, easy two pot meal

Beat that smarty pants

reply

Love ramen noodles!

reply

Yes!
The 'chicken' flavored ones are best🍜🤗

reply

That’s a great one . Poor mans stir fry

reply

Indeed
And how dare you call me poor!?!
I have at least 7 dollars on hand

reply

I’m sorry a thrifty persons dinner

reply

Yes, much less offensive to a cheap bastard like me

reply

You have 7 dollars ? Can I have some monies

reply

I can only spare fitty cent:/

And then I'm going to go on and on about the loan like an annoying Uncle!

reply

Add egg to that. Filipinos do it that way and its pretty good.

reply

Egg seems to make most things better
I had a burger with an
egg on it one time, I thought the cook was a damn Loon

Damn! It was really good!

reply

Frozen vegetables

reply

That’s a good hack

reply

Dry spices are cheap and can add a lot to frozen entrees and other prepared meals - pepper, oregano, garlic powder, tarragon. And sauces too - Tabasco, salsa, A-1.

reply

Love my dry spices and bottled sauces! Must be a guy thing ;)

Using stir-fried onions as a base. You put a couple of chopped onions in a pan, then you can add anything. Ham, meat, chicken, vegetables, tomato, eggs, mushrooms, pasta, rice, whatever you add, it combines fine and blends it together. You don't even need to stir constantly, adding a bit of water prevents the onion to get burnt, so you can set a 10 minutes timer and check if it's done.
