Coppola backs Scorsese in row over Marvel films

Who the hell am I to argue with two geniuses that I love and respect but in this case I call bullshit

Superhero movies, big summer blockbusters and dopey horror movies make me very happy...movies are often just for fun and escapism

Not every movie needs to be Schindler's List or some such painful, deep affair...Makes me think Scorsese and Coppola are a bit out of touch to be honest, but I love them anyway

I'm afraid this is both gentleman's way of staying relevant by getting into crosshairs with what's popular now. They want to bring any kind of attention to themselves and their life's work by being snobs who think they know better.

It's the way they present themselves that matters. Given their famous names, this kind of publicity won't really hurt them and they know this, which is why they are doing it. They have nothing more to prove at this point. It's a clever way to get people talking about them.
