Songs for Mr. Dewey

I had a crazy dream last week in which I was somehow given the task of mixing a Dewey tribute song that had been recorded by the late Scott Weiland of STP. I wasn't doing a very good job because I couldn't really hear the song in the dream. Everything sounded muffled. I bet that's the last mixing gig I get from him!

Anyway, here is another song for Mr. Dewey. (And this one has the benefit of actually existing.) It was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin as a tribute to John Lennon.

Elton John - Empty Garden (Hey, Hey Johnny)

Classic dewey...I bet he loved this tune

One could weep but I'd rather hug that gent

His GF told me that was the last song he ever heard while still on this earth with us.

It is very sad, and true.

Because this is something he was so good at, making people Come Together. Plus he loved the Beatles ☺️

Here come old flat top
He come groovin' up slowly
He got joo joo eyeballs
He one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker
He just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine
He got toe jam football
He got monkey finger
He shoot Coca-Cola
He say I know you, you know me
One thing I can tell you is
You got to be free
Come together, right now
Over me
He bad production
He got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard
He one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair
You can feel his disease
Come together, right now
Over me
He roller coaster
He got early warning
He got muddy water
He one Mojo filter
He say one and one and one is three
Got to be good looking
'Cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now
Over me
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah
Come together, yeah

For Dewey, who I'm sure loved this song, and for all of us, who are still here.

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I'll love you more
In my life I'll love you more

This is the last song Dewey sent me in the goodbye message some of us received via his girlfriend after his passing. He said the discovery of this group immediately reminded him of me although that's always puzzled me. I can only conclude it's because we shared a lot of music from the 70s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAZ9R2t5Jd0

His final sign off was:

" Your partner in crime
Adolphe Gomez " (an inside joke)

I never heard this before, but I like it! Thanks for sharing it here.

Yes, it appears to be an obscure band from that decade and its discovery really seemed to have impacted him.

Addendum: He mentioned a documentary that he really liked. This must have been it: https://moviechat.org/tt2064713/A-Band-Called-Death
