What are you all listening to?
I've got Tom Petty going here
The guy was a boss!
You?

'i don't see a lot of money here' might be some of the coldest, harshest dialogue i've ever heard in a movie.
inside llewyn davis is one of my favourite coen's. i might give it a re-watch today.
Such a heartbreaking scene.
You probably already know he sang him other song not "Hang Me, Oh Hang Me" but the quote's on the spot.
I love Inside Llewyn Davis (best 2013 movie) but my favorite Cohen movie's Blood Simple.
nobody asked for it, but here's my coen's top 10
fargo
inside llewyn davis
the big lebowski
no country for old men
raising arizona
blood simple
a serious man
true grit
hail, caesar (undervalued imo)
the ballad of buster scruggs
i'm a big fan. i think these are all great movies, & i'd say the first 7 are just about perfect to me.
actually, instead of watching llewyn davis for the i don't know how many-eth time, i think i'll watch buster scruggs tonight, as i've only seen that once, i believe.
& here's the great ild scene where isaac plays queen jane as an audition.

You know what great about this scene?
That Bud Grossman's exactly right.
The genius of the Cohen brothers's that they managed to create a credible main character of a music artist who's talented, no doubt, but doesn't have the qualities that will make him a true artist. And they were able to show it in every area: Llewyn attitude, his work ethic, writing talent, creativity and even his voice (good but something missing that will separate him from the others).
the ballad of buster scruggs for me was unwatchable.
Hail, Caesar underrated. A brilliant film that laughs at the mix of politics and art in Hollywood. The Cohen brothers are antithesis to this approach they always with story orientation and not ideology orientation. As someone who knows Marxist literature and Herbert Marcuse in particular it was very funny to me. Finally a humorous film about the "new left" in Hollywood.
my top 10 Cohen films are. let's say the first 3 are my favorite, the other with no order.
Blood Simple
Barton Fink
The Man Who Wasn't There
no country for old men
Fargo
Inside Llewyn Davis
Hail, Caesar!
The Hudsucker Proxy
the big lebowski
Raising Arizona

Almost anything from the 80's and 90's
shareSame here but I love 70s Rock as well👍
shareThe 70s was a fantastic era in music. Many music experts claim it as the greatest era in music!
shareI'm no expert but that seems like a tenable opinion
70s movies were also pretty mind-blowing as well
"Camera Camera" by The Teardrop Explodes -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q8juMD8x3Q
A great early track by a great British band.
This is the first I've heard this, It's very good, kind of punk sounding
Random question...Do you like The Sex Pistols?
Not a very huge fan of Sex Pistols but yes I do appreciate them.
share"Woman" by John Lennon -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhfWiU8wGCc
Partly in tribute to my thread on him, and yes very good song. Taken no genius to realize the "woman" in question is his wife at the time Yoko Ono.
And by the way, I first heard this song in 1993 as a child on cassette and cassette player walkman when I came being no more than 6/7 years old for the first time to live in UK. Ah the memories.
A lovely song and a sweet video
Well done
the teardrop explodes first album is absolutely great. i'm a big cope fan, though i don't think he's made a satisfying or even really good record since peggy suicide. at least from what i've heard. i've kinda fallen out of following his career...
shareI own their "Kilimanjaro" (1980) release on CD too and some others as well as yes Julian Cope's solo work.
share Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird

One of the best opening for a song ever, at least in my taste :)
"Jealous Guy" by Roxy Music -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRzGzRqNj58
One of the best covers and one of RM's top 10 best songs for sure, 10/10 easily.
"Summer in the City" by Lovin' Spoonful -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7ofnHmxE-I
Still a timeless classic over 50 years later and yes it was indeed in "Die Hard With a Vengeance" (1995) (a very good movie, the second best Die Hard flick in my own humble opinion.)
the skatt brothers - life at the outpost
this is my favourite strictly hetero, absolutely not gay at all video of all time.

I watched one minute of that and I'm glad I was not in the video

Have always found this song exciting, and more so the older I get.
A song about needing physical contact with other people. Sure it's great to smile and say "Hi" but sometimes you gotta feel a hug, and not from your everyday grandma type.
Wanting Contact (i'm) Wanting Contact (i'm)
Shake Those Hands !
Give me the Thing I Understand
Shake those hands, shake those hands
Pull my chin, stroke my hair, scratch my nose, hug my knees
Try drink, food, cigarette - tension will not ease
I tap my fingers, fold my arms, breathe in deep, cross my legs
Shrug my shoulders, stretch my back - but nothing seems
To please
I need Contact !
I find this to be profoundly Human.
