Best Era for Popular Music?

Judging by the various music topics that appear here, I suspect most of you will say it's the 70s. I certainly would (even though I missed that decade and came of age during the 80s and 90s).

Does anyone disagree?

60s-80s for me

Way too many top acts to mention but we went from pop rock bands to heavy metal in a decade or two
Great stuff!

The 50s and 60s DooWop and MoTown sound was pretty great too

I’ll add a few other categories besides popular:

70’s - 80’s for country music and pop.
Love all the post punk / new wave of same time.
Electronic / Dance late 80’s to 2000.
80’s for rap and hip hop.

87-88. The top 40 sounded like a best of album.

Before and after it's a case of finding the needle in the haystack. There's good songs every year, even now.

I would say 60's through 70's.

The 80's New Wave movement was fantastic.

Blondie
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Human League
Sigue Sigue Sputnik

No, the 80s and the 90s.

I have pretty diverse tastes so most decades are pretty cool. It start to nose dive after 2000 and crashes and burns in the current decade.

same here although the late 60s and early 70s were the best.

reply

I like all eras except the era of rap and hip-hop.
