Pizza night!

Not tonight, not even last night, but I had a pizza night about a week ago.

I'd been watching a fun guy on YouTube who was comparing about 6 weird pizza cutters, which meant a lot of pizzas being shown. After that I kept craving pizza, until I broke down and picked one up at the store.

I got Paul Newman's brand, the deluxe version. What I really wanted was spinach, mushroom, onion, and sausage, but no one makes that. Anchovies and artichoke hearts added to it would have been even better.

Do you like pizza? When's the last time you had it, how often do you have it, and what's your favourite topping or kind?

reply

It's my favorite food and most commonly I'll get pepperoni, but sometimes I change it up with a bacon/banana pepper combo. You'd have to do some horrific things to a pizza to make it inedible to me (looking at you anchovies...sorry lol) so I'm cool with most toppings.

Last time I had it was last Monday/Tuesday. I ran the Boston Marathon Monday and the first thing I did after showering was order a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese (and a side of wing dings because I was determined to waste the previous 5 hours of burning calories as fast as possible). I had a couple slices left over so polished the off on Tuesday.

reply

Pepperoni is good, and so are peppers. Canadian bacon?

Oh, I forgot about your marathon run! How did it go? Other than 5 hours' worth of calorie-burning, and your determination afterwards to waste it ASAP 😄

😂 I know, you're in the majority on anchovies. I've asked friends I've shared a pizza with to just have them put on my half, but they insist the anchovies swim over to the other side.

Overall it went pretty good. I threw my back out the day before and had to spend the day alternating laying on either an ice pack or a heating pad. I was really nervous if I'd be able to run at all. The next morning it felt better but not great and I ended up wearing a back support under my shirt. The first half went well (about 2:15 at the half) but I really felt it the second half and slowed down considerably (didn't really take walk breaks at all the first half but took lots the second half). In the end I finished with a time of 5:10 which I was both disappointed and satisfied. Disappointed because as of Saturday I had every intention of finishing in under 5 hours. Satisfied because based on how my back felt on Sunday I wasn't sure I'd finish at all. ThE Boston Marathon is a challenging course with a lot of hills so all in all no complaints. Also the pizza was on point that night and I got to enjoy it while watching the previous nights season premiere of Game of Thrones.

And I like Canadian bacon but usually just get regular bacon on a pizza.

reply

Wow, you injured your back right before it, and still ran? 🙌 You do realise you get extra bonus points for this, yes? That takes you well under 5:00.

I should have known, but didn't, that with the bacon fanaticism that mysteriously rose out of seemingly nowhere and caught on, that regular bacon has become something of a standard topping.

reply

Hahaha well thank you!

Yes bacon definitely gets tons of love...and while i greatly like most of its uses, I have seen it go too far (a few years back a girl from work showed up with homemade bacon cookies...yeah I'll pass).

reply

a person must be hungry after running a marathon

reply

I think some people get hungry but feel sick if they try to eat too much after running that far. Fortunately that's never been a problem for me lol

reply

Impressive
I'm all pissy about driving 26 miles!
Well done Sir🏅!

reply

Haha thank you!

Garlic pizza. Tastes awesome and keeps the vampires away.

reply

Mmm, garlic is great on pizza. Plus, yes, no vampires! May even work on zombies, but I'd need to do more research on that so don't assume anything.

reply

Possible it does.

reply

Possibly, but if we're in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, we'd want to know first it's been tried and tested.

reply

Maybe they actually like garlic and start chasing you instead XD

Pepperoni and cheese. My favorite pizza.

reply

I have to stick to cheese only. Anything else causes my digestive system to rebel.

reply

I love pizza. Meat Feast and a side order of garlic bread. Plenty of black pepper. Washed down with Peroni beer.
