History

Hi,friends...we all that that the WW2 start in 1939,but how many of you know about the forgotten war fought by China since 1937?

reply

I remember Croft!
China was one of the Allies...they held much of Asia under Japanese Imperial advance...China suffered horribly but stayed strong...i wish we stayed tight with them...

reply

And after all their sacrifices, there are still Americans refusing to buy products made in China.

reply

they are a repressive Communist regime

reply

Now you sound like Meathead.

reply

good comeback

reply

Thank you.

reply

you should move there

reply

You assume that's not impossible.

reply

Things made in China for export to the West are generally made by American and other Western companies. So, buying most "made in China" products isn't really supporting China; the money flows right back to New York and London and elsewhere. The Chinese get very little out of it. It's neo-colonialism.

reply

So does that make it better for Americans?

reply

Months before Pearl Harbor and the US formal involvement in the war there was something called the AVG, American Volunteer Group. US military pilots where discharged from the military and sent to China to help in the fight against the Japanese. I believe they did not engage in actual combat missions until after the US declared war. The first group was the famous Flying Tigers.

reply

Yes,but they couldn't do more to help the chinese.

reply

Even people who acknowledge China was involved tend to downplay it. China suffered more casualties than any country in the war except the USSR. They bogged down the bulk of the Japanese imperialist forces for years. Yet they tend to be treated as a sideshow, the "forgotten front". In the first place I think they were downplayed due to racism, and secondly they were downplayed because a few years later they became a communist country and the anti-communist Western countries didn't want to say anything positive about them for that reason.

reply

China under Mao was just as bad as the Japanese

reply

That is true
Tragic history over there...
I honestly need to brush up on Chinese AND Russian history...i only know the basics...
