reply

Yes, I have. It's not an uncommon practice.

reply

Yes, that is a common practice.

My first job was as at age 15 at my Uncle's Golf Center earning the princely sum of 75 cents / hour.
Of course way back then gas was 25 cents a gallon.

Some jobs will add up your latenesses though and if/when they total more than a couple of hours they will take back a vacation day...

My first job was cleaning a basement full of chinchilla cages every Saturday. The neighbor guy from across the street had them He was some sort of a scientist or something. I inhereted the job from my older sister. She got a better job. I was 11 at the time. I just couldn't pass up that $10.00 a week!
By the way, Female Chinchillas are much the same as we human females. They also menstruate. Talk about NASTY cages!

My first paid job was during the summer of 1969, when I'd just graduated from high school, out in Tucson, AZ, at a Baskin Robbins. It was cool, and I learned something about being independent. I had other jobs after that which didn't work out, but then, afew years after graduating from high school, I got a summer job at a jewelry factory down in Attleboro, MA, which was way south of Boston. I learned something from that, and had assembly-line jobs every summer for the rest of my college career. Those jobs didn't pay very well, but they were worth it, since I learned what it means to earn my own way.
