Sad misplaced people.....

I often post on the individual boards and find the posts of the folks who are talking about IMDb's shutdown. "Where do we go from here?" I just ran into another one.
There are so many alternative sites that people posted back in February. Very rarely do I see MovieChat on those lists.
The funny thing is that in the last days of IMDb, I did see this site on someone's list. I just can't remember which board it was.
How did the rest of you find out about this site? Was it listed on a board on IMDb?
There are so many of those posts that I run into. It wasn't so long ago and yet, it seems sooooo long ago! I keep hoping that these people find their way here.

I had an IMDb pal send me the link via FB about 2 weeks after the boards closed.
I'd already joined imdb2 and TMDb but both were really quiet and not very user friendly.

Are there still Facebook groups where this site can be promoted? I don't have Facebook.

Movie chat do or did have a FB page but it wasn't very active.
Did you stay in touch with any IMDb friends Daisy?

I didn't post all that much on IMDb so nope, didn't stay in touch with anyone. I had joined imdb2 before the boards even closed so I remember posting that link around a little bit. Wish I had known about this one then!

I closed my imdb2 account,there were rumours about it being unsafe.
I've since heard it was overrun with trolls!

They also banned people like myself with no warning. I think they are trying to make a closed community with a select few. I did lurk around on some of the boards though and oh my the dramatics. Not much movie chat at all. But I don't like to gossip! hehe.

I keep running across people who have posted on this site, saying how happy they are to have found it..but then they only have a couple of posts. I wonder where these people went? Most are from 6 months ago and such. I hope they realized it takes time to build up traffic and get things going, and didn't just bail.

I am hoping they visit again. They may have been frustrated by the low traffic and the lack of features on the site. The thing is, in the last six months so much has been updated. Jim, the administrator, has added many different features since this site first started. It just takes time, as you say. Rome wasn't built in a day.

That's what I mean, they should have stuck around to see how great the site is now. It must have been so much work for Jim to get this going.

They really should have stuck around. Hopefully they will come back.
I make it a point to visit the individual boards and post on one or two of them at least once a day. Sometimes people see these shows or movies in the trending bar and they respond. I have noticed a number of people who discuss on those boards and never come here to General Discussion. That's a good sign that others are here and posting.
You are one of many who have joined in. It's very encouraging.
