Search bar (fixed)

Is it just me, or is the search bar misaligned to anyone else as well?

reply

It's not just you,i think your right, the search bar has indeed misaligned, but no problem for me😉

reply

Not a big problem, but I was curious if anyone else had the same... problem. Thanks :)

reply

😉

The search bar is off center because of the MOVIECHAT.ORG, on one side and a "contribute", "your account name", an inbox icon, and a notification icon, on the other side. Having it aligned, would definitely make it flow better. Is it necessary? Would you think it would kind of mess up the interface of having the icons situated to where we would not be use to clicking? Maybe have the contribute icon moved to the "Moviechat.org" side?

reply

I didn't take into account that there was more stuff up there lol

I wouldn't know how it would affect the interface, or what should be where. But right now it just looks off. Not a priority by any means, just an observation.

I wonder if the same thing is happening to people with shorter usernames.

reply

Oh I see what you mean now. There is someone below that may have described it as you had intended and I did not figure that was what you saw. It appears that, for some people, the browser glitches up due to an ad.

reply

I can't see or access the search bar at on my phone.

reply

You should see a magnifying glass symbol next to the MC logo. When you press on that the search bar should show.

reply

Mina's right, you can see the magnifying glass on the right of the MC symbol😉

reply

It's returned.

reply

Yes, this is happening to me too; started noticing it a couple of days ago.

The search field is normally located on the upper black bar, between the MC logo and the Contribute link, but lately it has been located underneath the black bar, blocking the link back to the forum that normally displays there.

I've reproduced the issue from two browsers on my Mac -- Firefox and Chrome, but only when I am logged in. When I am logged out, the search field is positioned normally:

Logged in, bad position of search bar:

Logged out, good position of search bar:

Granted I use ad blockers in my browsers, but even with it disabled for this page, the search bar is still mispositioned, but it covers the ad instead of the link back to the forum:

This is definitely a problem for me, as I cannot link back from the discussion to the originating forum, unless I were to keep my ad blocker disabled for this site. But even then the ads would be covered by the search field.

Edit to add:

I wonder if the same thing is happening to people with shorter usernames.

I do have a long username -- which may be why the issue does not present when I am logged out.

reply

Aha! Someone has fixed this. The display of the username has been replaced with a small icon. I suppose the display of longer usernames was bumping down the display of the search field.

Thanks for the quick fix!! :o)

reply

If that is how it had looked to MinaVladimir, now I get it. I actually did not know it was that messed up. I actually do have ad block on and everything looks okay. That just looks like the web browser being glitched up by the ad.

reply

As an IT guy, I have to say -- you really know how to report an issue! Usually getting this much info is a long and painful process.

reply

Very true, TexasJack. I'm an IT person myself, help desk staff. :o)

reply

You did a much better job at describing it, than I did!

Thanks for the fix!

reply

It was for a few days. But now it's not because all the links in the toolbar have been changed from words (Contribute, User Name, Notifications, etc) to just wordless icons now. So it all fits in line now.

reply

I saw when I logged in this morning. They did a quick job a fixing it!
