Intellectually Challenging Films.

What movies did you see that were so deep or meaningful that you had to watch them again pretty much straight away?

Here are some of mine.

Bladerunner
Donnie Darko
The Fall
Brazil
Man From Earth
Primer
Fight Club
The Usual Suspects
Pi
Mr Nobody

I would say my favorite movie, Mulholland Drive.

Also a good film. Wim Wenders makes some interesting films.

Did you see Faraway, So Close!?

Blade Runner
Donnie Darko

reply

Both in my all time top 10 of films. I never get bored of watching either.

reply

Aronofsky's The Fountain probably belongs here.

Man From Earth was great. I love a good "one room movie". They really show off the power of a great story, screenplay, and great acting.

reply

I keep trying to re-watch The Fountain but so far got interrupted on each occasion. Hoping to get some free time so I can do a re-watch of it again some time.

Man From Earth is one of those rare, one room films, that keep you so engrossed because it is so well written.

Another one from Richard Kelly (director of Donnie Darko) -- "The Box"

Never got around to seeing his "Southland Tales" , but I heard negative things.

reply

I liked both of them. The Box was a strange film. Definitely will watch that one again. Southland Tales wasn't that bad.
