Jim Made Some Changes

I implemented this yesterday.

1. New users can't sign up with an email that is already in use for another account
2. New users can't sign up with a temporary email (must be a real email address)
3. New users must verify their email address before making new posts
4. New users can't make an account with the same username as an existing account but with different capitalization or spaces at the end (eliminates imposter accounts)

I should like a gift certificate for a nice fruit basket emailed to me each year on my Join Date, when you get around to it. (tho, maybe not a top priority...) yourimmediateattentiontothismatterisappreciated

Great news.

Keep up the great work 👍🏻

There seems to be two other changes.
The distance of the thread titles seems tighter (closer together) and does remind me of IMDB's format even more. I like it. Anything to help make things easier to read and find.

Also, if you look up a movie or TV show now, there's a new "Similar Titles" list of suggestions. This is also helpful to remind you of movies you've forgotten about.

Here's the Psycho boards for example, and you can see the similar titles suggestion for other Hitchcock movies. Although I'm not sure how 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' got in there. Maybe it has to do with how IMDB connects these things through Trivia perhaps?

Just noticed this too. Really like the "stars" and "similar" sections on the movie pages. This site is really starting to come together.

This site is coming along. Thank you Jim

Yes, batman89 and 9, I do like the new additional "similar stars"/"also known for" links as well.

9, that's a good point. The thread links would be much close together on a mobile site, and harder to click. I do remember that happening a lot when I used a tablet to surf message boards. Hopefully Jim can make a separate mobile version (if that's not too hard) or find another solution for that issue.

I like logging in in the morning and being surprised by a new change. Keep up the good work, Jim!

Hopefully he'll add avatars at some point. I always enjoyed those on IMDB.

Yes, I'd like an avatal as well. But just a small one, next to my screen name.

That would work for me.
