“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”

Sixty years ago was the dawn of a new age. Out with the vestige of a group of absolute racists (not bigots) who committed atrocious crimes against Blacks...the KKK. I recall seeing a documentary about the KKK in the ‘50’s at a theater when I was about 12. What I viewed on that big screen made me cringe in my seat. Those images have stayed with me for 65 years.

Today I’m watching the new racists. The thugs who are attacking business owners because they are white. Law Enforcement, especially white cops are the target of their hatred...they are executed by the new racists. The Black Lives Matter movement is a racist organization which has Marxist tenets.

They are destroying the past by tearing down statues, by demanding it’s their way or no way. They have to change history in order to control you. You will be punished just as the KKK punished Blacks and those who stood against them so many years ago. History books have to be changed, movies have to be deleted if they depict the old South. They are burning buildings, part of a church just as the KKK burned Black buildings and churches. The police didn’t challenge them. Hells Bells, many were in the KKK.

By acquiescing to the thug racists in defunding law enforcement, this country will see blood, we will return to the era of the KKK. The difference being...the new racists have a different skin color. The KKK of yesteryear praised white racists. How many innocent lives were taken from those who stood against the abomination of the KKK. George Floyd is martyred. A career criminal martyred by the new racists...BLM.

George Floyd was murdered. But, after viewing for days the memorials for Mr. Floyd I found myself starting to build a strong dislike and fear from the thugs rioting/looting/assaulting and burning. The country has been ceded to them. No good will come from their actions. More weapons are being stockpiled to fight against the new evil. Seattle has ceded to police-free-zones and it’s spreading.

Yes, by rewriting the past, this country will return to the past. The dawn of another new age...complete anarchy and the loss of our Republic.

Actually, history repeats itself. What's happening now is quite similar to what happened with the KKK.

Let's not forget that the KKK was originally a legit organization. After the American Civil War, many former slaves didn't make any harm, but many others gathered to riot, rape and kill. The KKK was born as a civilian militia to defend white population from black rioters.

Eventually, at the end of the XIXth century, things got quiet. People who were in the KKK for legit reasons left. What remained were the toxic ones.

Something similar happened with the feminism. If you've read Erin Pizzey, an amazing woman who created the first shelters for abused women in the UK, she explains how during the 60s/70s every demand became quickly accepted. So most of women who had been in that movement for legit reasons just left. What remained after that were the toxic ones.

Modern feminism and anti-fascism are toxic for the same reason the KKK was toxic during the XXth century: once any movement is not necessary, legit people leave, toxic ones remain. And those toxic people use the prestige that was built up until then.

Thanks for the info. I was not aware the KKK was once a legit organization. In fact I’m quite shocked!
As far as feminism, Margaret Sanger comes to mind, founder of Planned Parenthood who devised ways of birth control, is said to have been against abortion. Though one of her goals was to exterminate Blacks! Also a proponent of eugenics! Yet she is celebrated! Why haven’t the rioters/looters/arsonists destroyed Margaret Sanger Square in NYC?

”Sanger argued for compulsory sterilization and segregation for people with disabilities.”

Your remarks bear witness to the adage Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

That's some interesting history right there. You should teach that to the lefties. Feminism today is like women should be in charge or rather feminism today is switch everything opposite, not real equality. That's why they dye their hair in color to mark themselves as the radical ones.

It’s not a question of remembering. They were specifically never educated about it.

The only thing they know about the founding fathers is did they own slaves. As though that’s the reason we built monuments to them.

Do we have monuments built for the other 1% of the population who ever owned slaves?

reply

Knowing history is vital to understanding how the world works today. It's no coincidence that the New Left movement targeted history early on as a field to seize control of, eliminating it in places, and where it remained dumbing it down and turning it into political indoctrination fodder.

"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past." - George Orwell, 1949

I can specifically remember history classes spending more time on Vietnam than WW2. Vietnam was a pointless and meaningless war to history. But to the communist left it’s when their balls first dropped.

reply

When you think about it, those that came before us seemed to see into the future. Great quote by Orwell.

When the past is eliminated how are the people going to see and understand what is about to befall them? They won’t recognize the warning signs. Soothsayers will be heckled.

reply

Agreed. The quote is from his novel 1984.

reply

That I know, but never read it. I did see a movie which was very depressing. Everything was desolate. Ayn Rand’s words are coming to pass.

reply

You should read it. It's not too long and the book has outstanding prose the movie can't fully duplicate.

Who said "Those who cannot remember the past are bound to repeat it"

reply

I forgot. You’ll have to do a search. I had to and the true quote is the way I wrote it. I always quoted it as you did which is incorrect.

reply

I just did and actually the quote is "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." was said by George Santayana
