I think Bernie is like Ross Perot in a way...a wild card that cleaves Democrats. The longer he stays in the race, the better it is for Trump.
When Sanders left the race late in 2016, his young supporters were so bumbed out they could not bring themselves to vote for Clinton...they stayed home and Trump won.
This could repeat itself again in 2020...Sanders appeal seems to have a solid 20 percent, but can't seem get above that..most of his voters are under 35.
If I was a strategist for Trump, I would want Sanders to stay in the Democratic race as long as possible... capitalizing on the disenchantment of younger voters when Sanders doesn't get the nod.
That's stupid. Ross Perot was "Ross Perot" for being a third-party option that took votes away from Bush. If you wanna talk about third-party spoilers, look no further than Bloomberg. He threatened to do it if Bernie won the 2016 nomination.
All being a moderate has seemed to do for you is buy into the lie that Bernie spoiled it for Hillary, yet instead of running against her as third-party, he campaigned for her and went wherever she told him. Then she turns around and blames him for her losing three states that she never even campaigned in.
By the way, the only reason Project Veritas focuses on Bernie is because they know he's the one who definitively beats Trump.
Either way Sanders cleaves Democratic votes! His base is too specific..he appeals to the under 35 crowd. Gen X ers and boomers will want a more moderate person to run.
When Sanders doesn't get it again, a percentage of his young voters will stay home, sulk and binge watch something on Netflix, saying that the political process is rigged.
If by odd chance he DOES get it.. Bloomberg will fill in the gap and get Democrats turned off by Sanders socialist platform.
This is why Sanders should step down as soon as possible..if he had a larger demographic base I would not say this.
