I like such scenes. Let me rephrase that. I would like that type of scene. In a movie. I was very disappointed by what conversation was offered in My Dinner With Andre. Many classical philosophy books are too difficult, or made too difficult for the likes of me to understand. But from the movies I have watched in my life, the intellectuals actually have not reached saturation, far from it. From what can be said, the script does not even goes halfway to what it can get away with. The glass, I'd say, is 9/10 empty in that respect. Despite what I said, I didn't understand your post completely. True democracy worked well in ancient Greece, and worked well when a great President happened to the US. There is more democracy in England, a monarchy, than in the US. Communism worked well in small communities and in odd small factories and firms where the CEO shares the resources or when the populace owns the shares of the company, e.g. the rich German soccer club, Bayern Munich. My point was that all Communist evils are not really communist in nature. And democracy is not really the opposite of Communism, nor is it the panacea to the ills of society. Russia and China are oligarchies in all but name only. Russia especially is not run by communists, but by a Mafia system. The USA is the richest democracy, but only officially. Instead it is really a plutocracy. India is supposed to be the largest democracy, but is really a Caste system etc, etc. The Brits invented Baseball, one of USA's most popular sports. The answer to your question lies in comparing the Great Britons list and the USA all time greats list. Brits have more and greater great persons in their history. Your USA all time list has G. Washington as your best ever person. Who is not even the best president of all time. Reduce Ken Jeong first of all. He is unfunny. I recently realised that the reason these freaks were against Harry Potter books was more because they made a comparison between muggles and Death Eaters, who were a placeholder for Nazis. But I am wrong am I? They really did believe that HP was about witchcraft... [–] Boromir (8241) Too many spoilers in this thread, we need to be more careful. Duly noted. Spiderman 3 (2007) - The scene where Sandman awakens Thelma & Louise (1991) - The Ending Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) - The ending and what it entails Corpse Bride (2005) - when the CB sublimates Barry Lyndon (1975)- where he beats someone savagely Grave of the Fireflies (1988) - huge chunks of the movie, but the pointedly important deaths Pulp Fiction (1994) - when the character of Thurman learns of her friend's death and does not, dares not react The Wind Rises (2013) - The death of the wife and her 'reappearance' Taxi Driver (1976) - when Bickle experiences a last hallucination before the movie ends, revealing that he is not cured Memento (2000) - same kind of scene (in a car) as Taxi Driver, when Pearce's character accepts his fate Brokeback Mountain (2005) - the end The Notebook (2004) - where we realise how the main characters in the story's story are distinct from the story itself Danton (1983) - the death of these characters City of God (2002) - the death of the stoner dude The Truman Show (1998) - the exit and what it means Requiem for a Dream (2000) - the fate of the 3 amigos Moon (2009) - the realisation of what is fated to happen to Rockwell's character Being John Malkovich (1999) - the fate of Cusack Parasite (2019) - the end (once again) Plein Soleil (1960) - the death of Ronet's character The Conversation (1974) - the end Suzume no Tojimari (2022) - the fate of the white cat The Last Supper (1995) - the deaths and Ron Perlman's off screen speech 1- Raiders 2- Jaws 3- Last Crusade 4- Schindler's List 5- Duel 6- Jurassic Park 7- Close Encounters 8- Munich Beyond that, I can't say. All of his other movies are not agreeable to me. The right wing want to get into the president's shoes, not to mention his pants, but they still consider themselves as anti-establishment, or sometimes even more incredible, as anarchic. The GOP is a farce and has been for years. You wouldn't recognise a good book if it saved your life. You are perhaps a good person, but only compared to your peers, especially if you compare yourself to men. The world is like heaven in The Good Place. The movie basically provides a fantasy for the people, while the producers of this horrible concept get to mock their target audience and rake in some of the most lazily acquired fortune ever. What were the cliches? Scarface was a masterpiece, its lines were great. Stone and De Palma floundered without each other in their solo writing projects. I hated Natural Born Killers. They are thinking of bringing Child Labour back. The US will be a much more miserable place to stay, soon. His fans don't immediately mention his 6 or 7 Oscar wins right from the start, so yes, he seems underrated. But then Kubrick got none and Walt Disney has 26 of them so there goes the perspective. I've learnt fast here that whoever posts a YouTube link while making a claim, said claim will always be hollow. If you get your worldview from YouTube clips, I shudder thinking what you make of its comments section. You have a point. But it is the greedy corporations who first lowered the movies' standards...by destroying the screenwriting talent available in Hollywood and relying on hacks for their blockbusters, just to cut costs. Not so creative accounting from these much richer but still dumbass Movie Moghuls. Die Hard is his best movie. I personally prefer Lucky Number Slevin and The Last Boy Scout over both Sin City and The Fifth Element. I haven't yet watched 12 Angry Monkeys, but it might not dethrone Die Hard. Great.
