Its absolutely intentional and that's the whole point. There are also serious moments so that we care about the characters, but the series is mostly over-the-top and fun. As far as Daniel goes, remember the idea for the series came from the idea that he was really the villain in the original. He's absolutely supposed to be self-righteous and a little bit of a prick. Hes certainly not a villain, but the main star of this show is Johnny Lawrence. I have no idea if this is true, but supposedly he got more money for letting them use that photo in Alien 3 then he did for his role in Aliens. Good for him. Yeah you had no idea who was being killed off in the tunnel sequence nor did you care. They all looked the same, they all sounded the same and you didn't care about any of them. It was a cheap B movie. You felt every death in Aliens. Exactly. It was different but it felt like a natural progression. In the original they stumbled upon this unknown creature. Now the audience knows they exist. We see learn more about the species we encountered in the first. It dont look like at it as being disrespectful to the first film, as much as building upon it. Alien 3 just shit on Aliens and tried to rehash Alien with less likable characters. You can look at my history and I admittedly had b very low expectations and thought it would really suck. It was better than I thought. Definitely better than The Predator and AVP crap. I didn't think it was as good as Predator 2 or Predators and some of the praise is a little over the top. It was a little woke, but not over-the-top. Action scenes were good. I did think the Predator looked like crap though. Too much obvious CGI. He looked too skinny, almost like the discarded Van Dam idea from the original. Not great, but it was better than I thought it would be. Yeah they "de-aged" him and still looked to be in his mid 50s. It didn't dawn on me until they were calling him "kid" that he was supposed to be in his 20s during his introduction to the Buffalinos. Maverick was a better film. It was everything the orginal was but done better. I think that's picking at nits. I dont have a problem with a diverse cast. It wasn't like the movie even mentioned it. They were picked because they were the best pilots. Its not a documentary, its to entertain. If someone enjoys the movie more because it has someone of their background in the cast, so be it. There were absolutely no woke themes in movie at all. It already grossed $150 domestically after 3 days. I agree. I wanted to like it. And it got good reviews and did well. But I just found it boring and a cash grab. The motive was the absolute worst of the entire series. Its depressing because I guess I'm one of those oldheads who didn't care for the new spin on a beloved franchise even though I was only 10 when the orginal came out. View all replies >
