I’ll withhold judgment until I watch the movie. But I agree. First impression of Scar is disappointing. But you also don’t want two lions that appear too similar. We don’t want people confusing Mufasa and Scar.
Me too. I have a feeling it’s going to have a decent opening weekend for a horror film.
Well it’s been a few years since this thread came out. I think it’s simply due to the fact that it’s not easy to make an underwater film as a live action movie and how would you handle all of the talking underwater animals. But with the recent release of the Aquaman movie we finally have a template on how to create an underwater film and I think we may see an announcement for Little Mermaid sometime soon

Portraying some Indian influence may not be completely inaccurate. While the original 1994 film Aladdin didn’t fully explore the full extent of Agrabah, the follow up mid-1990’s Aladdin cartoon series did a better job of doing so. I remember Jasmine making reference to an area known as Ganistan, which was an obvious play to countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan. These countries have mid to strong Indian influence.
You’ve still offered no proof. Plus, that doesn’t explain why Disney didn’t “save” the Star Wars films lately; that’s a very profitable franchise. It must suck to hate a film so bad, yet see it succeed so much. I feel sorry for you.
The entire premise of this thread is absurd. Disney is not buying tickets to its own movies. If that were the case, why didn’t they buy tickets to save their other so-called feminist movie “A Wrinke In Time”. Or any failed movie like Tomorrowland or John Carter. No, they will let the public decide if a movie will sink or swim - case closed.
Oh and btw, the only “proof” you have is at another country’s (China) box office which is not nearly as regulated as the USA. Besides, China’s government disincentives foreign box office receipts in favor of domestic box office receipts. Movie theaters are penalized when foreign (US or other countries) films exceed a certain percentage of total theatre sales. So if anything, Captain Marvel’s box office numbers may actually be higher (not lower) than what is being reported. Get educated on the facts and get a clue man.
I think you are off. The general rule of thumb is the production cost x2 plus marketing costs. Obviously international grosses are a bit lower than domestic totals but in a nutshell if there’s a budget of $150 million and a marketing cost of $150 million then breaking even would be $450 million. We passed that number a long time ago.
Wow I thought I was the only one. It was jarring hearing the songs so processed. Daft Punk anyone?? May as well have gotten them to record Belle’s songs.
I’m starting to think this is true. In the scheme of things they are a very small but vocal minority. The movie is doing too well to suggest otherwise.

The real conspiracy is that Captain Marvel had more user reviews on RT than Infinity War BEFORE the movie was even released and they were all negative. So if there were any deleted reviews, those were perfectly legitimate.
It is very rare that films maintain or increase in the box office from their opening weekend. A 50%-ish drop is typical and considered a good drop for most films. What Black Panther did was truly spectacular. Even blockbuster films like Avatar back in the last decade did something spectacular when it maintained its same box office numbers into the second weekend. Anything less than a 50% drop will be considered a very good drop for the film.
