TLJ is as divisive as TFA was. However, I despised TFA and liked TLJ. I'll admit TLJ is riddled with problems, but it got enough of what i consider to be the "important stuff" right for me to ignore or forgive its many weaknesses. That "important stuff" is much of what you liked about the movie (i.e. Luke's character, relationship between Ren and Rey, etc). The thing is, he wasn't developed in TFA or TLJ. He was a pointless character in both movies. Killing him had little effect on the plot or story, I'm sad to say. The Mary Sue designation is typically applied to a main character. I enjoyed TLJ, but I don't like how Disney seems to think anyone can use the force. The Jedi were inspired by the samurai, and no one could be a samurai warrior without rigorous training, no matter how inherently talented they were. Disney has taken a big poo on that notion. I despised Rey in TFA and classified her as a Mary Sue before I heard anyone else suggest as much. I liked Rey in this movie. I also liked the movie.
