I would have made the Betazoid culture wear the same uniform they wore during their weddings, but at all times.

I checked this out last night and went in with low expectations. It turned out to be not that bad, especially if you just consider it some sort of alternate reality Gunslinger story and not the exact one from the novels, you might enjoy it. King deals with alternate realities and dimensions all the time, so if your a fan, it should be easy to think of The Dark Tower this way.
Yes, you probably can't realistically make a better adaption than what came out with these. Except maybe to add a scene with ole Tom Bombadil dancing a merry jig. Hey derry dillo!

Anytime I first hear of a big budget movie less than 2 weeks before its release, it always seems to flop. Coincidence, or am I just that important to how history unfolds?
You should enjoy it then. Although I saw it when I was quite a bit younger, so maybe that influences my opinion of it.
