Yeah, Moulin Rouge is a musical so his aesthetic kinda fits. But I hated that movie too because musicals is always cock 'n ball torture for me, and I'm a girl ๐

It's just every movie I see of his has that...thing about it, which I get. Directors SHOULD have an idiosyncratic aesthetic about their work. I just happen to have a RUN THE OTHER WAAAAAY! reaction.
Heh, yeah I think that's probably it. The musical vibe aspect. I get twitchy eyed over that.
But even apart from that, visually, [i]Australia[/i] is right up there with the worst I've ever seen. So very ugly.
Very garish. And I HATE musicals. His movies feel like musicals without the breaking into song, except for the ones where they break into songs. ๐
I really hate his aesthetic.
I despise him. And every single one of his bullshit movies. They did NOT look great.
Edit :I can't actually say I despise [i]him[/i]. He might be a sweetheart. Probably is if all his stuff is musical like. I just mean his work. Sorry I got a bit รผberpassionate there
Not defending, just having a harmless good time....
As a hardcore Garth Ennis fan and saw how none of his shit could ever be adapted faithfully because of being hectic so you can imagine how something like ASOIAF could never go as hardcore as the books.... I never expected this series to be as good as the books. So I gave myself over to decent production values instead.
I see the show ans the books as separate entities. ANYTHING on tv adapted from hecric books and comics will be adulterated all the way down to "acceptable".
The first indicator of that was Constantine. They didn't have the balls to do the original storyline, which was pretty GREAT. That's how I knew Hollywood and whatever is its tv counterpart will NEVER be truly ready.

I think Casey Affleck's good looking. He definitely pulls off the serial killer thing, but the quiet type, not the showman.

ADORE hot sauces, as long as they're almost unbearably hot. Nothing under ghost or scorpion type strength for me.
