When he was told his offspring (Brian Christopher) (Death) was to take part in a live "gay wedding" (at a time when gay weddings were still illegal), he royally lost it with the sports/entertainment mogul (Vince McMahon) all of you know. He had him pinned against the wall, screaming in his face that his child was not a "f****t" and threatening to quit unless the segment was scrapped. It was, but the idea was revived with two other performers (Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo/"Billy and Chuck") long after the idea of gay weddings stopped being shocking. So let me get this straight, liking very young girls is okay but homosexuality isn't? This is why I can't in any way, picture Billy Dee Williams' Harvey Dent doing this. There wasn't any hint in the 1989 Batman film, that is Harvey already had a fragile psyche or ego. I recall that Batman: The Animated Series said that Harvey Dent even before he got scarred, was mentally imbalanced ("Big Bad Harv"). I would imagine that BDW's Two-Face would be like what Aaron Eckhart did with him in The Dark Knight, in that he was more of a tragic hero but not an out and out bad guy.

I wonder would Val Kilmer's performance gone off more smoothly had he add so many issues working with Joel Schumacher. Schumacher was adamant that Val Kilmer was very difficult to work with. He claimed that Val was openly hostile to the crew members and when he told Val to stop behaving in such a rude manner, he stopped talking to Schumacher. I really want to believe that had Val Kilmer been able to make two additional movies, then he would've made the Batman role his own and out of Michael Keaton's shadow. For example, it took Roger Moore until his third James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me, to really nail it. Kilmer was I think caught in between the gloomy darkness of the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton movies with the bright and campy world that Joel Schumacher set up.

There's this YouTube reviewer named Captain Logan, who runs a channel called Geekvolution. And in his "Superhero Rewind" review of Batman & Robin, he said that the biggest reason why this movie is so despised is that it couldn't decided who it's supposed to be marketed for. It's meant to be more kid-friendly to counteract the criticisms that Tim Burton faced from parents when he did Batman Returns. And yet, Joel Schumacher seems to want to still appeal to adults. So he has Uma Thurman in scenes spouting these sexual innuendoes/double entendres just so the movie could still maintain a "naughty edge" to it. Captain Logan compared this to getting a traditional girls toy like a My Little Pony doll and pairing it with a Lightsaber.

The other day I came across this article on WhatCulture concerning movies that didn't understand what their audiences wanted and of course, Batman & Robin was on the list: [url]https://whatculture.com/film/10-movies-that-didnt-understand-what-the-fans-wanted?page=7[/url] In the case of Batman & Robin, it seems like Joel Schumacher thought that because Jim Carrey was a big reason why Batman Forever was such a box office success, they needed to double down on the goofiness and silliness. Schumacher even admitted so on the DVD commentary when he was talking about the in his words "fun and games" aspect of the Batman movies. Batman & Robin comes off like a self-parody but it still wants to take itself seriously. So the movie has this weird, bipolar vibe throughout.

I read that one reason why DeForrest Kelley jumped at the chance to appear as Leonard McCoy in the Star Trek: TNG pilot (besides obviously, symbolic "passing the torch") was because he needed the money. At the time, he made much of his income from doing a lot of Star Trek conventions. He didn't necessarily do them because he liked them, it was really because he and his wife were ill. Unfortunately, he was still two years away from being allowed to move into the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital. So any night he got to sleep in a hotel and have a free meal, he was going take it. And any job he could get to pay his bills, he was going to take. This stranger got short with me in the very first chance that she could get mind you. And this was after at least two separate occasions in which she responded to me in an irrational and defensive manner. You absolutely don't fucking understand what I'm trying to get across. It wasn't like I was badgering said stranger to the point in which she resorted to getting short. It was that she thought that what I was asking really wasn't worth the trouble to begin with. If somebody disses you online or in person, and you feel that they there wasn't any reason to do so in the first place, then you would complain to. So don't give me that bullshit about how it's an issue for him and that an individual getting "short" with him was justified, when they placed themselves into that arena in the first place.

It wasn't just the budget, it was Jean Doumanian's sheer incompetence as a producer for a comedy show. Gilbert Gottfried said that Jean Doumanian was so tone-deaf about comedy and what was and wasn't funny that she was somebody who plausibly would've rooted for Margaret Dumont in a Marx brothers film.

I heard that Malcolm McDowell was deeply remorseful over that skit when he found out that John Lennon was murdered. But he later had a sigh of relief when he learned that Lennon himself saw the skit and thought that it was funny.
