Of course, if you're one of those who blindly adhere to dogma, you're going to argue with that.
Try reading my comment again, particularly the third sentence. The religion bashing was quite blatant IMO. In addition, their explanation of how the universe was created out of nothing was quite arguably wrong. If there was nothing before, there can't be anything now. I don't know if a higher power exists, but I do know that our science doesn't have a clue why there's anything beyond nothingness. To state how the universe was created definitively is drawing a conclusion with *zero* facts. I remember Phil getting his ass handed to him by George Will which started me on a path away from my college instilled socialism.. I'm a black conservative, and I sat out the last election. That a badly flawed candidate like Trump could beat Clinton, despite the lying media that backed her (how 'bout those polls!!) shows just how detestable Clinton is. Hillary Clinton is by far the most corrupt politician to ever run for so high a political office. Trump may be an egomaniac, but the man loves America and is not a racist. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn't been paying attention, will say *anything* about a Republican because they're loyal Dems, or has an agenda. Neither. Humans are infinitely different from one another. I learned at a very young age that a lot of critically acclaimed films were tortuous for me to watch and panned films ended up being my favorites. Critics have zero value to me. LOL! Brilliant and most likely quite accurate!! LOL! I would never have believed that of the two shows premiering this month, The Orville would be the better one!!! As a black man in America I'm appalled at what Obama has wrought. I was hoping that a black president would immediately and forever stop this stupid "victimization" of blacks in America. Sure there remains racism, (and I suspect there will always be racism) but it's coming from both sides, mostly from ours nowadays. What do these players want? They're OK if white thugs get shot by police but demand that black thugs not? How racist is this? If I need help and dial 911, it's the police who will show up and defend my family not someone like Michael Brown who punches out old white folks and attacks cops right in the street. If Michael Brown were white no one would have heard of him. As a conservative, I defend the rights of any American to say what he feels (regardless of how stupid and how racist it might be) but also feel that he must do it in the right context. You want to shut down white supremacists? Stop counter protesting them. No one would give a rat's behind what this scum thinks if it wasn't pointed out. Counter protesting brings out the news crews and gives them publicity. How would BLM activists feel if any latent white supremacists in the NFL (there must be some) gave a Nazi salute or Rebel Yell during the National Anthem. There is a time and place to protest, and football games are neither. I'm *so* done with the NFL. I shut my TV off after seeing this abomination and I will NOT ever watch another football game as long as the owners buckle to political correctness and as long as the racists in the NFL take a knee.
most of his kids from the first marriage were adults when he divorced his first wife
Not sure what that has to do with anything. For all we know the money he had earmarked for their inheritance went to mom. They'll still get it, but it'll come out of her estate. Just speculating. But we don't know the rest of the story.. For instance, perhaps his ex-wife cleaned him out upon the divorce and he figured she should take care of the kids "inheritance". Interesting. Here's a woman who under oath couldn't remember specific details, is a proven liar, yet sells a book that tells her reasons why she lost the election - something that could be explained in a 30 second sound bite. The irony is that the only people she'll fleece are those who voted for her. If I supported her I don't know why I'd give her money to tell me what her spin on her colossal failure was. Hawaii 5-0. Nothing comes close to the art of this intro. In an age when computer software didn't exist to synchronize and edit video, this all had to be done by hand. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KR8RHBXjMlE Yep, Angie Tribeca did follow the Police Squad blueprint, which is why I didn't watch it (past the first episode). I suspect it's because I'm getting older that outright farces don't appeal to me the way they used to. I used to enjoy that level of silliness more but I'd prefer my silliness at a more subdued level, which is why I think I enjoyed The Orville. I was around when Airplane first hit the theaters, and then the Police Squad films. Loved them all, but that time has passed. My biggest fear going in to The Orville was that McFarlane was going to use the Airplane blueprint and make this a total farce or sight gags and sounds. I'm glad they're paying attention to the plot and mixing the silliness in along with it. Star Trek TOS had some silly episodes (Tribbles) and no one complains about that.
How many find it unlikely that the Federation (sorry, Planetary Union) would assign the captain's ex-wife as his first officer?
No more unlikely than Ed himself being made captain. It was explained that there was a severe shortage of officers to man the Union's fleet which is why Ed was given a captain's chair and his ex got the First Officer. Besides, there's plenty of comedy gold to be mined if properly implemented.
Or maybe nobody really cares about the other aliens, and the reality tv joke was better.
For reasons I won't go into, I was unable to see the the second episode, except for the last two minutes. The reality TV joke was hilarious, and even my wife laughed and admitted that it was funny (coming from a woman who hates everything McFarlane). I'm old enough to remember when Animal House, Airplane, Blazing Saddles, etc. were killed by critics. Nowadays, these films are highly regarded and considered groundbreaking or at least influential. I didn't expect much from The Orville, in fact, I was afraid it was going to be an Airplane type over-the-top type spoof. There was much more substance to this show that I thought there'd be. I was first impressed by the excellent effects, but then by the humanity of the show. Yes, there's a bit of exposition that must be endured before the show gets it's feet under it, but I'm happy about what I saw last night. Bravo to the cited critic who had the courage to say that even a silly diversion is worthy of watching. I know I'll watch another from what I saw with the first episode. I only web search from a PC, and I have an app on Firefox called Hide Unwanted Results of Google Search 1.6 installed. I block IMDB from any Google return so I don't accidentally click on it. I use Wiki and independent sites for any info I need. I won't give those bastards nothing.
weapons of mass destruction.
That's not my question...
under false pretenses
Which pretenses?
