whats the point of remaking this?

The original worked well and tied everything up nicely. The actors played their roles well, the make up effects were decent. Is the director trying to re-release in hopes of a bigger financial impact?

Agreed.

The director wasn't completely satisfied with the original and perhaps he doesn't have many original ideas for films so he has to return to the well so to speak.

I agree. No need to remake a good movie less than 10 years old

reply

I agree too

Just saw this and can only agree. There's a few scenes I like in Malum (the head pop-off scene is particularly effective), the production quality is higher and some of the acting is better. But the more cliched, fleshed-out storyline of the lead character being part of a plan, having been born into the cult, killing her mother instead of a random person, etc. fell flat for me. Overall, I prefer Last Shift.
