Maybe i'm just not greedy or desperate enough, but

There is no amount of money that could make me willingly go to a zombie infested country for a quick payday.

It wasn't just the money.

Not to defend this lame and HIGHLY inferior sequel, but they accepted the job because you could clearly see that they were living shitty lives with no money or scope of moving up due to being refugees, not to mention all the hate and abuse they got from the locals who blamed them for being part of the people who started the outbreak. Hell, you can see real life versions of the latter here and there with Chinese people copping abuse in many places for the whole Covid "pandemic".

I would've done the same - risk everything for a payday that would change my life by a 180 if I had very little to lose and nothing to live for.

That said, I was bored and super disappointed with this flick, with its weak af script, ridiculous 'Fast and Furious' type car chases that were full of bad CGI, stupid decisions and dialogue by characters you couldn't care less about, and just absurd scenarios like the ending.

So the UN just randomly sent a helicopter with an obese woman who'd get winded from climbing the 3 steps to the chopper, who somehow came at the EXACT time that the family needed and knew right away what was happening, to hold the daughter back and get all emotional literally a minute after landing?!? It was as laughable as the teen girl driving around like she was one upping the Fast and Furious crew, with her vehicle that defied the laws of Physics lol.

Train to Busan 8/10
Peninsula 3/10

The helicopter wasn't random, the old man called for it to meet them. The car stuff was wildly unbelievable, but no less so than dead people walking around. The only problem with the film is it lacked an emotional connection to the characters.

reply

It was really, really, really, really bad.

I've had more believable chase sequences take place in the Mad Max video game. Heck, even Forza Horizon has more believable looking car chases than this film!

reply

Granted, the chase scenes were unbelievable.
