Christ, Season 3 is bad

It’s like the love child of the worst seasons of DS9 and Discovery. Would everyone PLEASE stop standing around talking about your feeeeeelings and actually F-ing DO something!!!!

I dunno, I quite enjoy it. Feels like old TNG minus it being non-episodic. It definitely isn't like S1 or S2 which I despised.

90% of Every. Single. Episode. is reminiscing or emoting than some McGuffin saves the day in the last 3 minutes. Then we have to have the moralizing and weekly message exposition at the end of the show like we’re all frikkin’ idiots. “Family is good, if we all work together everything will be fine no matter how bad the situation.” JFC, TOS had plenty of messages but they didn’t have to beat you over the head with them.

HEY! DS9 was great! Don't diss it!

reply

Just the whole dark tone that DS9 became crossed with all the Discovery feels.

it's okayish. it's total fan fiction nonsense. nothing is in character. not the characters themselves, the Federation, the ships, the capabilities of the technologies (or sudden lack thereof), and sure as hell not the lighting. this is not Star Trek. but it is a fairly interesting character study of some fan favorite characters. in that what-if scenario of a darkest timeline. the character of Shaw has been the biggest standout for me.

Looks like reading the 'non-canon' books is still the way to go.
Some of the trilogies were amazing - like the one about Data's return and the end of Borg.

There are so many high quality novels out there, while hollywood is only using the worst, as long as they are woke. ESG is the key element at play -

The current IDW Star Trek comic is doing really cool stuff in terms of bringing back and mashing up big characters for new adventures. It's absurd, but eh, it's a comic book. It's supposed to be a little nuts. They just launched a spin-off book with Worf and Spock and Lore and Ro stealing the Defiant. lol Really looking forward to that one, it's off to great start.

OK, I guess it's getting better, but damn it took forever some something interesting to happen. Bummer about Ro though. I never finished DS9, did we get more of the Ro story there that was alluded to in Ep. 5? Would like to learn more about all that.

reply

It's not getting better.

Dropping in old cast members and ships etc doesn't make it good.

Look at the characters they have changed them in a big way this is not how real people are you dont flip your personalty because 20 years have passed when you was already an adult.

The other thing is this is all over the top drama giving of a vibe its 2023 but we can travel space it's ridiculous.

If Gene was alive he would have died seeing this.

Gotta agree with you regarding Geordi at least. When did he become such a complete wuss??? That was a completely absurd turn about of character and come on... the whole galaxy (or at least humanity and other Federation species) or the risk that you kids **might** be killed. Worf I could go either way. It wouldn't be completely unheard of for someone who has been a fierce warrior his whole life to choose a more spiritual path (Miyamoto Musashi comes to mind). I IS completely absurd how the repeated trope is: 1) we have a dire problem we need to solve; what could possibly be the solution? -> 2) OLD CAST MEMBER! That's getting really really old.

It's getting very tiresome watching everybody who knew Picard now hate his guts and shit all over him. Like What Even the F.
