I didn’t like it

And I don’t know if it’s because I do love the original chucky but it just wasn’t my cup of tea..it was funny, and the death scene was pretty good but I felt like I was watching a spoof of chucky..or if I was in a alternate dimension watching someone else’s chucky how in the scream movies they watch the “stab “ movies

Interesting. I probably won't get a chance to see it until next week. I just can't get over how Chucky looks from the trailer. I am surprised alot of people on Twitter are saying they liked it.

Overall the movie wasn’t bad honestly, it’s the new chucky doll that’s distracting had it been a new design doll that looks nth like chucky then it would have been better to me at least

Do you think you would've liked it more if it wasn't a child's Play movie but was pretty much the same film about A.I. gone too far (with a doll named something other than Chucky of course)?

reply

if the dolll did not at all look like Chucky and had a different name yes it would have been a film I would like completely liked more

If they would have created a different movie/different name etc, there would be tons of people here saying it was a ripoff of Child's Play/Chucky. This is just a matter of what people want to complain about.
This way they acknowledge people and elements of the first one, but give us fresh and more updated concept of the original idea.
I really LIKED the first few movies even though the idea of transferring the soul of a killer into a doll was absurd. The problem was that it became increasingly absurd to come up with ideas of how the soul ended up in other dolls etc.
THIS movie comes up with a plausible idea of sabotaged technology to explain the doll and his actions. It doesnt explain where the Chucky name came from but again we give the honor to its roots. The same for the boys name Andy.

I happen to like the concept of a more believable idea of why Chucky is the way he is. No voodoo nonsense here. The idea of technology gone wrong is very real and very scary. We have allowed too much control and influence of technology in our lives.

The reviews seem quite positive generally, I’m finding it hard to get enthusiastic about it though to be honest.

The AI angle just sounds lame and I can’t get rid of the feeling that my favorite horror franchise has been ripped off.

Feeling like the STAB movies from the Scream franchise. YES. You nailed it precisely with that.

I went this evening and thought it was great fun. The 2 other people I was with both thought it was good too.

I can understand that people grew up with the Brad Dourif/Chales Lee Ray Chucky and might find it difficult to accept something so different. I was very sceptical before I went in, fearing I would hate it but ended up pleasantly suprised.

When I saw the first stills of Chucky I really didnt like the design but when you see him in action it works.

Acting, effects, story, Soundtrack - all great. The final act maybe lost a little of the creepiness factor when he went 'full chucky' but all the same I had a blast watching it.

Of course, its no oscar winning masterpiece but its a lot of fun.
