This should replace Marriage Story.
I enjoyed this movie so much more than ^.
Honey Boy had heart. Marriage Story was garbage, literal trash.
An Oscar nomination would have been nice but would always be an uphill battle for such a tiny film. Shia could have scored in Supporting Actor with a bigger push or a major critics award or two.
For the record I did like Marriage Story so in this hypothetical alternative Oscars’ universe I would knock out Jojo Rabbit to make way for Honey Boy. Noah Jupe would be up for Beat Actor, too.
I haven't seen Marriage Story but this was an excellent film, moving, sincere performances and a story that felt real and meant something.

Haven't seen Marriage Story yet but I just saw Honey Boy. It was pretty good, it's not real engrossing but it had a realism to it that was kind of interesting. And since I knew this was based on Shia's life, it almost felt like a documentary/biography of some sorts...
I'd give it a 6.0 out of 10. The story is just not real gripping and I've seen a lot, and I mean a lot of films like this but it's not bad, it's pretty good for what it is.
