I think I'll probably watch it when it's streaming, but I didn't see it in theatres. I'm not even sure if it's still playing anywhere, but I don't think I'd go. I'm very, very choosy about films I see in theatres (for budget reasons and spare time usage, mostly), but I liked the trailer.
There are a few people here, like yourself, who have provided level-headed reviews that aren't hyping the film because it's a "feminist" or "diverse" and who aren't tearing it down because it's "woke" or "anti-male". And, thank you for taking the time to let me know about the movie.
Yeah, these days it seems like prejudging films is the standard procedure. Worse, this judgement often comes pre-trailer, let alone pre-film, and everybody taking these opinions becomes almost entirely galvanized the second they take them up. I first noticed it with Ghostbusters (the straw that broke IMDb's back for message boards (RIP)), then with Joker (for the opposite crowd), Captain Marvel, and so forth, on up to the latest batch (Rings of Power, She-Hulk, Woman King, etc.)
I don't like it because it makes it hard to actually like something or dislike it. It makes it hard to figure out if the property has an agenda or not because just by reading these opinions it can get hard to see what the film actually is. It's why I've avoided Rings of Power. I can't get "it's woke" out of my head, so I know I won't be able to just relax and enjoy it (or dislike it, but on my own terms).

I totally understand what you mean about the tornado of opinions on a film before it’s released. I try not to read too much into it though, if you’re going to great lengths to trash a film you haven’t seen, your opinion doesn’t hold that much weight to me and certainly doesn’t influence my decision to watch it. This and Bros were two of the most maligned films here before anyone had even seen them, and both turned out to be entertaining, enjoyable movies. I liked Bros a little less than this, but it was still nowhere near as terrible as you might expect if you went by the ranting of people who oppose the very IDEA of the film.
I would say that The Woman King is definitely worth seeing on the big screen though, although I respect your decision to wait until it hits the streaming services. The visuals and battle scenes alone make it one of those films that really do benefit from the cinema experience.

Thanks for saying so. I like discussing movies, not so much politics, so it's nice to have a thread about the actual movie.
I'll see if it's still playing near me, but I might have missed it.
I'm not that interested in Bros, but just because nothing in the trailer really grabbed me, plot-wise or character-wise. I am mildly interested because I'm a big Community fan and I love Jim Rash. But the main writers, director, and star aren't people I really know anything about. I might stream it, but probably not. Definitely gonna re-watch Community, though...
