Charlie's accident

Ok maybe some can help me with my question. I am not asking how Charlie's death happened that was obvious. What i am confused about is what and why Peter did with her body after he drove home. Was anyone else confused by the shot of Charlie's worm ridden head just lying in the driveway or somewhere in front of the house??? At least that is where assume we saw it lying and the mom saw it when she walked outside. I got that Peter was kind of selfish and dumb by taking charlie to the party and not monitoring her and letting her eat unsafe cake but it made no sense for his character to take her body and head home and leave the head lying in front of the house. Not to mention just going home and going to bed. It's not like his character was evil and wanted to leave the head for his mom to find. Was anyone else as dumb founded by this as me???? Did I miss something or am i not understand something somebody please fill me in. Other than this puzzling me the whole thing about the head and mom finding it was terrifying . This was one movie that sticks with me. But if anyone can fill me in on my question I would appreciate it.

the head was on the side of the road where the accident happened.

The headless body was in the back of the Tracer.

Charlie's head was still beside the road near the telephone pole where the accident had occurred. Peter was in mental shock over what he had done and just parked the car at home with her headless body still in the back seat, leaving it there until morning when the mom got up to use the car and saw it. He spent the whole night laying in his bed and staring at the wall

It’s nothing that “he” had “done” for starters as it was an accident & not his fault. He had no control of veering off the road & having her leaning out the window where she got hit by that pole.

No court is going to convict him for that as it couldn’t have been under no ones control.

What’s more messed up than that to ME anyway is Annie making the miniature replica of the accident scene. Anyone in the world could’ve told you that really wasn’t the thing.to do.

That was seriously f@$d up.

Ok thanks for the answer of where the head was part of me was guessing that too. I knew that Peter did nothing wrong intentionally to me it's more of what he didn't do when he got home. I understand he was in complete shock it's just part of me was still surprised he did not say something right away. Started wondering if even though he had no ill will toward Charlie he kind of wanted to hurt their mom by having her discover the headless body like that. Then again I am thinking too much into it.

There's a good chance he was under the influence (marijuana), in which case he would be facing legal problems.

Her work was already established as some kind of therapy for her to work out her issues (remember the miniatures with her mother agonizing in the hospital and then the one of Ellen trying to breast-feed Charlie?). It was just her way of dealing with her grief.
