If Tom Cruise had played Cliff Booth who would've played Rick?

from trivia

Tom Cruise was originally in talks to play the role of Cliff Booth, but had to turn down the offer because the shooting schedule would conflict with his filming for Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018).

Unlike Brad Cruise looks nothing like DiCaprio and too short to be believable as Leos stunt double (Cruise 5ft 7, Leo 6ft), so maybe Matt Damon or Mark Wahlberg or Christian Bale would've had to be Rick had Cruise signed up for Booth?

Verne Troyer?

Oh, very funny, CrabgrassWilly likes to make fun of people who passed away

Did you hear the one about Abe Lincoln?

hohohohoho - and actually, I was making fun of Tom Cruise. When did he die?

reply

Christian Bale would probably be a good fit since Bale in American Psycho and Batman Begins looks similar to Tom Cruise in Eyes Wide Shut.

reply

Someone Jewish would be great.

Leo DiCaprio still would have played Rick.

QT opened a bit of a "public casting competition" by noting that Leo, Pitt AND Cruise were all being considered for roles. By the time it was over, we realized that EITHER Pitt(who had already worked with QT, on Inglorious Basterds) OR Tom Cruise(who had not) was up for Cliff Booth. QT went with who said "yes."

Evidently, Cruise had to do a Mission Impossible, but methinks that Big Tom could have delayed that. I'm not sure Cruise wanted to share the screen with another big star at this point in his career. As a corollary, I believe that ONLY Tom Cruise's name can appear above the title on posters. Wouldn't work here.

In the final analysis, doesn't Brad Pitt make more sense as Cliff Booth anyway?
