Review embargo lifts 24 hours before release

Not a good sign.

I think the same thing happened with Scream 6 and that received generally positive reviews from critics. I hope this is good, I enjoyed Detective Pikachu and the Sonic the Hedgehog films so if it's on par with those video game films then I'll be happy.

Just left the movie theater. Very enjoyable film. I haven’t see any of the Sonic films, but now I wish I would have. I liked it better than Detective Pikachu. Not a complex story line, but a great one for a Mario film. I love the relationship between Mario and Luigi. Two thumbs up.

Agreed, really enjoyable film with plenty of humor and well-crafted action sequences. The Sonic films are really good as well if you get a chance to watch them. Great to see video game films actually being enjoyable rather than just adaptations that have no care put into them whatsoever like Hitman, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil and Max Payne.

Movie's probably all about the princess and Mario is just a side character in his own movie who is totally worthless and the butt of every joke.

Just seen the film and it's pretty good. If you expect an animated film with a powerful, poignant plot then look elsewhere but it's got plenty of well-crafted action sequences, a lot of Easter eggs for fans and doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's a fun time.
