Why did it take her so long!?

To realize it was her hearing aide that hurt them? If the situation was real, I feel like I would of realized it after my brother and I were stuck in that place with all that dry corn (I don't know what it was. it looked like corn.) Not only that, it took her until the last second to realize she didn't need it inside her ear, she just needed to hold it. Oh! and another movie pet peeve of mine! "We ran out of time, So you guess how the movie ended!" Always hated that move by directors.

We ran out of time, So you guess how the movie ended

Like always, open ending leave us two very different possibilitis: The happy one is just like most of us presume - the mother will shoot those two monsters dead with the help of hearing aide device and then create a monster-free zone around their house; And the tragic one is that the family will all get butchered because the hearing aide device doesn't work on other two monsters like it did to the first one. Since we don't know how exactly that device worked, we can't rule out this possibility.

The ending was good and I don't usually like endings that end abrupt like that.

Agreed. I am glad they ended it there. Because more gun shots will only attract more monsters, therefore "how it ended" would still remain an unsolved question after the following fight. I guess in the director cut version, they need to add a 10-years-later scene to convince us that the family would have survived somehow.

The ending makes you think about what happened next.

Point of the ending wasn't whether they live or die (everyone dies eventually)

It's that they're finally not afraid, because they finally know how to fight back

It's the end of "A Quiet Place," and the start of "A Noisy Place With Feedback and Shotgun Blasts"

They finally found courage.

reply

its safe to assume it would work on all of them

She's deaf and she wasn't looking at the monster when it was hurting it. For all she knew, one of her parents made noise that lured it away when they were in the silo.
