Re: the bar ... he was in his Night Monkey costume that didn't look all that costume-y. Also, Beck (who literally ran the bar) might've told him it was OK, and Peter (incorrectly) trusted Beck.
More importantly, I don't think it matters. Jameson's exposed Peter and that bell can't be un-rung. Not credibly, anyway.
I think instead they're following "Iron Man" and exposing Spider-Man's traditionally secret identity, consistent with RDJ's game-changing and reportedly improvised line, "I am Iron Man."
Because even if Peter's now exposed, he has the full resources of Stark Industries and the Avengers at his personal disposal, including nanotech, cloaking, weaponized drones, BARF, etc.
Forget the Sinister Six; Toomes, Gargan and co. would be hopelessly outmatched and Peter would actually look like a bully taking them on with all that tech at his fingertips
(unless the sixth member is Justin Hammer?)

Even with all that power at his disposal, he's still wet behind the ears. It'll take a good time for him to be on par with Tony's train of though. He's too busy trying to get it on with MJ and school life. Still a kid at heart. Through the movie we don't even see him delve much of anything scientific related besides the multi-verse theory and him designing his new suit in the Stark jet.
