lie vs. lay

In Season 6 episode 14 Sheldon has the line "Shouldn't you be laying down?" Correct would be "lying down". I believe that as a stickler for correctness, Sheldon would have said this properly. Maybe they can ADR it for the DVD.

Along the same lines, Sheldon and the two professors should know how to pronounce "Heidelberg" better than they are currently doing. It's not "burg" with a "u" sound, but with a vowel that's more like that of "bear".

There have been a few times when Sheldon corrected what someone said as being grammatically incorrect. But other times he gets it wrong too.

I attribute that to the fact that the writers are not as smart as Sheldon!

I've heard terrible grammar from characters on TV shows, such as "It belongs to she and I ". It should be "It belongs to her and me". They are professional writers and they don't know the difference between subject pronouns and direct object pronouns.

It's often the case that people mix up I and me. They say "between you and I" when it's "between you and me" or "This is him" when it's "this is he". It happens in real life and in many scripts. I'm not a native speaker and yet I know the difference.

I'd say that's unlikely, but BBT did make it a point to "get it right" especially when Sheldon corrected people's grammar

The only way that happens is if at least one show-runner is likewise obsessive about grammar -- maybe that person didn't get picked up for this show

Adult Sheldon does correct grammar, but he often used Texas and Southern colloquialisms and he sometimes slurs his words. I attribute this to Jim Parsons being a native Texan and Iain Armitage is not.
