It's a test shoot done ages ago with vfx added in, probably had to hastily do a promo shot since they're shooting outdoors soon.

I don't mind the Kingdom Come-like S symbol on the costume, but I don't care for the high collar and looser fit. And I'm also disappointed to see they are continuing the same mistake all the live-action version of the character have made for the past two decades have made: they're making the costume too damn dark.

I don't know why they feel the need to do this -- Christopher Reeve's costume used the same bright, primary colors people saw on the comic page, and everyone thought it looked fine. While it's true a modern movie might have to update the costume in subtle ways, such as using what looks like a textured, high-tech fabric instead of plain spandex, there is no need to use dark red (almost maroon on the Routh suit), a washed-out, muddy-looking yellow, and dark, almost navy blue. Superman is a character who embodies hope and optimism, and the bold, bright colors that blaze forth so strongly are a big part of what communicates that visually to the audience.

Why do they keep screwing up the suit? The Reeve movies proved that the real suit can work.

Next time we see the suit they may have tailored it better and have a different muscle suit underneath.

looks like Cavill
