I think it's a dead-cert that Jennifer Holland will feature somewhere. LOL!

And that's *not* a criticism. I quite like her. I'm just riffing on the recent criticism and comeback regarding her regular casting across his projects.

But what GOTG actors would easily fit any Superman role? I can't, off the top of my head, think of any GOTG actors who would be an easy fit for, say, Superman/Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Jor-El, Lara, Jonathan Kent, Martha Kent etc.

But I suppose the aforementioned Holland could play Cat Grant. At a stretch I could possibly see Michael Rooker (a regular Gunn cast member) as Perry White, or maybe an older Steve Lombard. Maybe Chukwudi Iwuji for Ron Troupe.

Vin (or Bradley) as Lex? Bradley (or CPratt) as Jonathon Kent? Zoe as Martha? Karen as Lana? Elizabeth Debicki as Lara

reply

My gut instinct is to say I'd prefer Bradley as Lex over Vin, but on second thoughts, Vin would be interesting as a new variation on the character, one that exists in the comics, but we've never really see onscreen (i.e. a tough street-fighter type who came from nothing and rose to the top by being as ruthless and nasty as possible).

But as much as I like those actors, I'm not sure I see them in those (other) particular roles. I don't know if Bradley or Pratt have the gravitas/sincerity for Jonathan Kent, whether Zoe still feels a tad too young and glamorous for Martha, and whether Karen can convince as a sweet small-town American girl (since she tends to excel more at spunky characters).

reply

Kurt Russel from GoTG Vol2 would be another contender for J Kent (he was considered for MoS)

Zoe was considered as Lois for MoS but probably too old for that role now

reply

Russell would be awesome for Jonathan Kent, but would he be too similar to Costner's version?

I can see Zoe as Lois, even now (and I've always felt that Lois was a little older than Clark), although physically-speaking, my ideal Lois Lane would have been Courteney Cox, circa early-to-mid-1990s. Sandra Bullock would also have been a great choice around then. They need to find someone who's the equivalent of those actresses today.

Great choices 👍

Thanks. They were two of the top choices for Tim Burton's unfortunately cancelled Superman Lives film which was supposed to be released circa 1998, but looking at various comic-book art of Lois Lane I think both Cox and Bullock really look like the character.

These images particularly look like a younger Cox:

And I always thought that Cox looked like a younger, sexier Margot Kidder, who informed my early image of Lois Lane.

For some reason I can't see the second image, but that first one sure looks like Cox. Wonder if the artist photo-referenced her?

reply

The one you can access is a better likeness, but hopefully you can also open this one:

reply

Yep, got it. Definitely.

reply

I suspect the artist did. The likeness is pretty much uncanny.

I think Linda Fiorentino was also considered for Burtons Superman, also Jack Nicolson (or Spacey) as Lex, Chris Walken as Brainiac, Chris Rock as Jimmy.

reply

Fiorentino was hot and had that 'gutsy' vibe.

no those are not Naomi Scott should be Lois Lane also her and Jimmy Olsen are going to be the Leads

reply

Looking at Naomi Scott I'm not getting a Lois Lane vibe.

reply

typical comment from a sexist racist

reply

Please explain how you reach that conclusion.

reply

Naomi Scott could work, although I'd much prefer to see her cast as Talia Al Ghul.

reply
