They should do this as a comedy
Kind of like a modern interpretation of the Batman series from the 1960s.
Forget trying to tell some hammy dark and gritty story, play it for laughs instead and have camp humor and slapstick
A movie of one of Superman's encounters with Bizarro Superman would be entertaining. I haven't read a comic since the '60s, but I remember those episodes were usually played, to some extent, for comedy.
