Caviezel loves to play the victim. He was in 17 films after starring in The Passion, one miniseries, and one TV series. But he says he couldn't get work.

Maybe he expected to become a superstar. He got the role because Mel was using his own money and working on the cheap. There was ONE person with major name recognition at the time, and he wasn't it. [It was Monica Bellucci, which Gibson bet a lot of people would want to see as Mary Magdalene if he turned her into the prostitute she WASN'T in scripture.] Still, Caviezel went on to star with Robin Williams in one movie and Denzel Washington in another. I saw both of them. Caviezel didn't light up the screen. He's a serviceable actor, but not in Robin's or Denzel's league. He wasn't destined for greatness, but apparently, in his fifties, he's destined to play a 33 year old Jesus one more time. 🙄
