Any Non Fan gonna watch it?

I've seen the original (don't remember cause I watched when it came out)

This film looks so insane that I think I'm gonna watch it.

I've end up seeing every darn one of these things one way or another. Most of them have had their moments, but the only one I like as a whole is the first. After the last couple, I thought that they were getting so absurd that any sequels would be a waste of time unless they went into space. Apparently they do, so they have my attention.

The first film is still easily the best but I also like Tokyo Drift. And Fast Five is pretty good as well, though they were really starting to lean into the absurdity with that one.

reply

I've only seen those once each. I loved the trailers for Fast Five and saw it on opening day, it does have a few good action scenes, but the constant banter between the characters, which I've since come to expect, was very grating to me, Tyrese's shtick in particular. It's probably fine. Tokyo Drift I saw on DVD around the same time, and it left me cold, it's just not my kind of movie; kind of the film I was afraid the first would be in many ways. I watched one of the racing scenes on YouTube recently, I will admit it was well very done.

Tokyo Drift was the last pure street racing entry in the franchise and it has the best racing scenes. I also like Lucas Black and think he was a good, off-beat hero.

I can see how some people might be turned off by the fact that it doesn't have Vin or Paul, but that was never a big issue for me.

Are there any shots of illegal races in LA, where they show sweet mod race cars?
If not, then pass

reply

Actually there are some LA street racing scenes set in the past when Dom was still a teenager. But Dom is played by some unlikable kid with zero charisma and the racing is very little and not interesting.

reply

yeah, no. Loved the very first one, and came out of it saying out loud, "I wish there were more exciting, modern car race movies with that 70's action feel, like THIS movie!"

After it shark jumped into world saving, spy whatever, I literally can't remember if I have seen any of them.

I'll watch (and promptly forget) this one free on HBO or whenever it comes out, but am dissappointed it went all Wile E Cyote VS Road Runner silly cartoon fakery.

Must have a lot of fans because it looks like it will actually make money
