has this gotten better now that it's on Netflix?

I am hoping for more intelligent?..

While I enjoyed the season, most notable to me was...

1) They learned a new word in the White House. Four letters and it begins with F. POTUS even says it while on the toilet.

2) lots of soap opera with west wing relationships

3) a new “ripped from the headlines” secondary storylines each episode. You name a recent real life hot button issue, odds are it was in season 3.

4) it was a good season that focused heavily on the next POTUS election, though it was odd that it was “re-elect Kirkman” rather than “elect”.

Well, swearing is one of the things I was hoping for, but of course that in itself does not a good show make.

What I didn't like in the original show was how good-hearted Kirkman always was - it's completely unrealistic in politics.

And, well, also the stupid story lines. I stopped watching because it was just too embarrassing.

No! We are now treated with the f-bomb, the g-d utterance, and to top it off....a graphic depiction of homosexual sex. I was tired of fast forwarding the heterosexual sex, but when the prior came on I screamed “Oh, s**t!” and almost stopped the series. I didn’t...just fast forwarded the sodomy scene and hoped for the best. I liked Hannah Wells...she was the only one worth watching. The best didn’t come around. Just more of the PC social engineering to shove down our throats! I have 2 episodes left of Season 3 to watch. Afterwards, I won’t continue watching the tripe if there are more seasons to follow.

Intelligent? Hell no! I’m also dropping Netflix. I’ve been a customer since Netflix began. I had subscribed to both streaming then DVD’s. I recently dropped the DVD plan and now will drop Netflix completely. The company has become too PC for me and the above garbage proves it!

Well, you sound like a religious person - it's unlikely our tastes would coincide.

I am a Christian, but I am not religious as you can see from my mild swearing. Designated Survivor was a fairly good series before it was picked up by Netflix. BTW, why would you hope for swearing? You are correct “....that in itself does not a good show make.” But alas, your wish was fulfilled as the the show has now turned into smut and profanity.

The scriptwriters of today are not capable of thought to put a decent script together. Just use the f-bomb, G-d in every other word: throw in sex scenes every 10 minutes and hells bells a script is knocked out in no time! Can’t beat that for making the same $$$!

reply

BTW, why would you hope for swearing?

Because it makes for more natural speech.
I want realism, not something sterilized for my viewing.

For instance, if you ever see a post-apocalyptic show or movie where people are portrayed as heroic, you know right away (or I know, anyway) that it's going to be total crap, because people are animals, and in reality people don't act that way.

Believe it or not in this day and age people still continue to have civil discourse....which is realism. I repeat again what you, with intelligence wrote about swearing “...that in itself does not a good show make.” There have been so many great movies produced through the decades without an utterance of profanity. You notice I wrote “profanity”. Of course talented scriptwriters, directors and producers were required.

I cannot comment on post-apocalyptic shows/movies as they are not my cup of tea....I don’t enjoy the genre. But, I would assume people would behave as you believe...sad, but true....animalistic.

season 3 was the worst.

imaginary storylines which will never happen in real life
