The Orville is the better Star Trek.
I started with Discovery but I dropped it as it is just depressing and bland. The Orville took me two episodes to get into but it's getting better and better, a true STTNG replacement.

shareBecause of the nostalgia effect
This series challenges their beliefs, meanwhile The Orville is a parody and that's why they allow themselves to like it
Also the orville has 2 sexualized characters, one of them a teen
It's not a parody. It's really pretty good. Like watching new episodes of STNG.
And I even like the occasional McFarlane jokes and the added sexuality. But then, I'm European.

Huh? What does that mean? Who? What is the specific problem if it is a problem?
That is true ... but it is not saying much. The Orville is not really that
great and doesn't seem to be able to decide what it is, or forge some kind
of new format that makes sense. I'd rather watch and wait on The Orville
that waste more time and hope on Discovery.
I agree. I think what I like best about The Orville is the bit of comedy and also the stand-alone stories in each episode, much like TNG was. I'll still watch Discovery but I look forward more to The Orville.
sharedon't get me wrong, i love the orville, but you want all star trek reincarnations to be the same? fuller's star trek is exactly how i would have imagined his vision of the franchise and it is fantastic.
