This was good

I really liked it. It doesn't have to be brilliant, it just has to be entertaining. It also doesn't have to be overly complicated, it just has to be a fairly basic premise, and it was.

All good performances, although I was not convinced by Tyrese Gibson as a cop.

Sony are delivering with these side characters for Marvel.

I might even consider buying the Blu-ray in future.

I thought it was bad but I appreciated that the film at least stuck to it’s moody and dark tone and wasn’t a goofy comedy film like Venom 2.

Performances were all good though I agree with you there, just the actors were let down by a shoddy screenplay. I think it really needed more character development, it was difficult to care about anything that was going on because they didn’t develop the characters much if at all.

I liked Matt Smith as the villain. Confused by the mid credits scenes. So Vulture comes from the MCU? And why would Morbius be interested in teaming up with him. I guess we should expect a Morbius cameo in Kraven the Hunter.

Honestly, this movie was extremely bad. At 5.1 on IMDB, I'm hoping it drops to 4.9 and Morbius 2 never gets made.

reply

If it does get made you know you don't have to watch it, right?

reply

I didn't know that!

Quite liked it. Pretty typical scientist experiments on himself creature movie. I have no idea if it's a good comic adaption. Not too familiar with this particular villain. Good performances, kept it simple, didn't over explain the science. Just a good old fashioned light horror flick.

It started interestingly. Has nice dark atmosphere, but looks like the authors couldn't come up with good plot/twist, so basically it is just a short action movie. This could have been just an episode in some superhero TV show.

I agree with you. I thought that the first part (say, from 1/4 to 1/3 of the movie) was very good. Then it became even more predictable as the scenario followed all the basic schematics of superhero (specifically Spider-Man) movies:
1- The friend that turns evil and becomes the enemy
2- The father figure being killed.
3- The love interest being kidnapped and used as bait

No creativity whatsoever.

I think it could have been a very good movie if they decided to put the effort.

reply

It had more potential but yeah, it was really generic.

reply

It was perfectly enjoyable, action scenes were really cool and the lead actors were really good.
it's a simple story, so I have little to no problems with it, except for the potential for a great movie that was wasted by Sony, themselves. It was butchered in editing after No way home, and so many characters weren't fleshed out, and Vulture was supposed to appear when DR M Morbius was jailed not in the credit scenes, it's in the early trailers from 2 years!

I enjoyed it as well. I love the action sequences. I loved the villain's hammy acting.

The only thing I didn't care for was the ending where I felt like they kinda just rushed things. It would have made more sense to have a proper epilogue, instead of that weird meeting with Vulture.

I bought Tyrese as a cop, but I think his role could have been a bit more interesting. It was neat seeing him as the straight man for once.

Just watched it. I liked it too. I wish it was a bit longer imo. But at least we gonna get a sequel :)
