Marvel is scaling back their budget for superhero films

Usually they put up about 200 million, but only budgeted 75 for Morbius. Will still probably lose money.

Maybe Sony didn't want to spend that much on Morbius. Thinking that Marvel fans will watch it anway, so why bother with spending to make what looks to be a so so film into a good film?

reply

I'm a Marvel and in general superhero fan, but this doesn't look very promising.

reply

It's Sony. Disney is the one with billions production budget.

reply

Strictly speaking, this isn't a Marvel film. Back before Marvel got into the movie-making business, the licenses their most popular heroes to other studios, and each hero's villains came along as part of the deal. That's why Sony has Venom and Morbius. It's a shame, because Sony's movies have been uniformly terrible, while the films Marvel has made have all been great. I'd like to see what Marvel Studios could have done with Venom or Morbius.

reply

All Marvel movies have been great? I can name a few that have been garbage. Maybe Marvel could have made Venom and Morbius just as good as Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 2 & 3, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, The Eternals, or even Antman & the Wasp.

reply

The Dark World and Iron Man 3 are two of the worst films of the MCU, but they are both still very good films. Meanwhile Captain Marvel and Eternals are both excellent films. The two Venom films are terrible, unwatchable messes. I've not seen Morbius, but it seems it's as bad or worse.

reply

"Meanwhile Captain Marvel and Eternals are both excellent films."\

Come on now.

reply

I think both are excellent films, especially Eternals. I've rarely been so drawn into a film as I was with that one.

reply

Can take someone who thinks Eternals is a good movie seriously.
